Ingredients Overview:


Phosphatidylserine (PS) is a fatty substance known as a phospholipid.  All of the cells in our bodies are surrounded by a membrane that forms the exterior surface of our cells.  These cell membranes not only form the exterior of the cells themselves, but also the exterior of many of the structures within the cells.  Our cell membranes are double layered.  PS is the most abundant substance in the inner layer of our cell membranes.  PS is vital for maintenance and continued fluidity of our cell membranes.

The US FDA authorized two Qualified Health Claims for Phosphatidylserine:

1.  Consumption of phosphatidylserine may reduce the risk of cognitive dysfunction in the elderly.

2.  Consumption of phosphatidylserine may reduce the risk of dementia in the elderly.


Alpha Glycerylphosphorylcholine

Alpha GPC is a fast-acting, bioavailable form of the nutrient choline.  Alpha GPC is shown to support optimal levels of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine in the brain.  Acetylcholine plays a vital role in memory and learning processes.  Part of the reason for the effectiveness of this version of choline is because it easily passes the blood brain barrier.  In addition to boosting acetylcholine, Alpha GPC aids in production of both phosphatidylcholine (important for cell membrane structure) and human growth hormone.



Citicoline, also known as CDP-Choline, is a naturally occurring source of the nutrient choline.  This specific version of choline powerfully assists in the formation of new brain cell membranes and also assists in the repair of damaged brain cell membranes.  Citicoline provides materials for the formation of Phosphatidylcholine, an abundant and crucial building block in the outer layer of our cell membranes.  In addition to this structural support that citicoline provides to our brain cells, it also increases the levels of the chemical acetylcholine in our brains.  Acetylcholine is a neurotransmitter that plays a vital role in learning and memory processes.


N Acetyl L Cysteine

N Acetyl L Cysteine (NAC) effectively increases intracellular levels of our body's master antioxidant - glutathione.  NAC increases levels of glutathione particularly in brain cells.  This effectively combats oxidative damage to brain cells and lowers inflammation in the brain.  The result is both improved mood and cognitive functioning.

Bright Brain provides two ingredients that supports the formation of the phospholipid bilayer: phosphatidylserine (PS) and citicoline.  PS is one of the most abundant phospholipids that makes up the inner layer of the phospholipid bilayer.  Citicoline effectively provides the building blocks for the formation of Phosphatidylcholine, which is one of the most abundant phospholipids that makes up the outer layer of the phospholipid bilayer.  Together, the  PS and Citicoline in Bright Brain give brain cells the necessary materials to form new cell membranes and repair damaged cell membranes.
